HAPPY CHRISTMAS - WHAT A YEAR!!
- a look back on the year

It's been a fantastic year for Subway Collective.   January and February saw the band complete their project studio which included installation of a brand new Prophet 08 from Dave Smith Instruments.  March and April saw new site updates including a brand new backstage area. 

May saw the announcement that Mute Records would be using two of Subway Collectives remixes to mark the Yazoo Reunion taking place in the summer.  Both "i before e except after c" and "Bad Connection" would be released and  "Bad Connection" would appear on the Reconnected EP release by Yazoo being launched as an iTunes exclusive track in June along with various promo DJ CD's (hard copies) by Mute. 

Subway Collectives "i before e except after c" 2+3 remix was also released at the same time as an exclusive track on Alisonmoyet.com.  This was subsequently made available for download on both the Yazoo and Erasure official sites.  An underground eMarketing campaign also took place, seeing the track appear across the net on official myspace channels and various other electro blogs.  

July brought press coverage including Jonna's press interview with GMEN and August saw the band working together for the first time in 2009 on the brand new track "Throwawy Girl".  September brought another new track "Fall" followed by brand new site homepage including video and audio clips.  The remainder of the year the site was updated with new wallpapers and new images in the gallery.  Behind the scenes the band were busy engineering and mastering their new tracks ready for launch in 2009.  Phew! Hopefully more good things will be coming for the band in 2009 including their first album release.  Watch this space!

Nov 2008

SITE UPDATE
- new videos on the homepage

The homepage has been updated and now includes mini video & audio clips.  These include two "highrise" clips, a "one day in a heatwave" clip with new remixed audio and a preview of a new song "Fall" amongst others.  These will random play each time the site is visited and will be changed over time so make sure you visit often!

SITE UPDATE
- new images, wallpaper and page links section

This month the site has been updated to include some new pictures in the "subway images" gallery, a new navigation panel at the top of this page to help get you to the relevant news item quickly and a long awaited new wallpaper to download in the desktop paterns area here.

Sept 2008

NEW SUBWAY COLLECTIVE MATERIAL
- new track "Fall" underway

Subway Collective are working on a new electronica / orchestral fusion piece called "Fall".  This will be the first of a four part ambient EP which feature elements of other Subway tracks along with new compositions combining to create a totally new themed listening experience.  More details to follow.

NEW SUBWAY COLLECTIVE MATERIAL
- a new track "Throwaway Girl" underway with singer Lisa Skvis (aka Jamesdaughter)

Subway Collective and Lisa Skvis (aka Jamesdaughter) are back together and working on a new track "Throwaway Girl". A clip of this will be available on the audio gallery shortly. The song is a fusion of electroclash beats and strings which epitomizes Subway Collective's trademark sound. It's great to hear Lisa and Jonna's new work and feel it is up there with Subway's best. We hope you agree.

Two Subway remixes available on the Yazoo Reconnected Mute promo's

Subway Collective have submitted four remixes to Mute for the forthcoming Yazoo release on the 9th June.  The band are thrilled that two have been approved for release. 

The first of which Bad Connection will be available as a digital download on the forthcoming Reconnected EP and will also be available on two promo CDr's. The second - I Before E Except After C will be available as an online exclusive websites tba and on promo CDr. Both remixes are now available to DJ's through Mute's official promo CDr channel.

Site update - Homepage makeover

The homepage has been updated for the first time since its conception and is now looking smooth and features creative video snippets as well as exclusive web only audio clips.  The currently themes are all from video edits from the Highrise promo video, the audio being a stripped down version of Highrise.  We will be adding new video and audio clips over the forthcoming year.  If you haven't already seen it then check out the homepage here. Mute release Yazoo 4 disc box set released 26th May

Mute's four disc Yazoo box set entitled "In Your Room" featuring Yazoo's seminal Upstairs at Erics and You and Me Both albums will be released on May 26th 2008.  The disc will feature remastered versions of both albums, a third disc featuring original remixes and b-sides and a DVD disc including the original Yazoo videos, a new interview with both Alison and Vince and a number of BBC live appearances including Top of the Pops.   See here for the full tracklisting.

Site update - Backstage Area

The band have often been asked about their software setup and so we have now included an extended backstage area.  This includes soft and hardware synths and covers the outboard gear used by the band in the project studio. Check it out here. 

Further development of the site is currently underway including updates to both audio galleries and a few other suprises all to be announced very soon.

Full Highrise Video Now Up in the Visual Gallery

The final edit of the track Highrise is now up in the Video Gallery here to enjoy.  The video was filmed a couple of years ago and re-editted for this website and can also be found on YouTube. We hope to feature the second video for the track One Day in a Heatwave soon.

Project Studio Built

After a brief bout of patching and cabling the project studio will be up and running.  The band hope to utilise this space to complete a few outstanding projects and to enable most of the writing of new material to be done in their own space.  Here's hoping that means new material is on the way.  See the images below.

Project Studio near to competion

The band are currently putting together a small project studio.  This will including cool new wall keyboard mounts, angled 20 unit rack units and a custom built studio desk space finished off with a gorgeous pair of limited edition white KRK RP6 monitors.  see below.  Studio pics will be added to the backstage area once the build is complete.

Yazoo reconnect after 25 years

The speculation is over.  Yazoo's (Vince Clarke & Alison Moyet) have announced that they will reunite for the first time in over 25 years for Reconnected, a UK tour in June, starting in Glasgow on the 4th and culminating in a headline show at London's Hammersmith Apollo on the 18th.

The tour is preceded by In Your Room - a 4 disc box set

The box set will include Remasters and 5.1 mixes of both Yazoo's classic albums Upstairs At Eric's and You And Me Both, a third disc - B-sides and remixes and the fourth disc will be a dvd featuring exclusive new interviews with Vince Clarke and Alison Moyet and the promo videos for Don't Go, The Other Side Of Love, Nobody's Diary, Situation (1990) and Only You (1999).

The joyous, unlikely coming together of Vince Clarke, who had just left Depeche Mode, and Alison Moyet lasted for only 2 albums, saw them performing only 24 concerts worldwide, but left an indelible mark on pop.

Yazoo released Upstairs At Eric's in July 1982 then parted company just 12 months later on release of the second album You And Me Both, which reached Number 1 in the UK.

Vince and Alison have since gone on to have their own successful careers, Vince with Erasure and Alison as a solo performer, both releasing Top 30

i before e except after c remix

With much speculation online over the Yazoo 25th anniversary releases it seemed appropriate that we have included a small clip of the i before e except after c 2 + 3 remix to listen to.  This remix is now available to listen to on the remixes page here.

New track

Finally an early instrumental of a new tune called Hidden Agenda has been uploaded to the audio gallery and is also featured on the subway myspace here.
The vibe of the track is classic subwaycollective - dark, brooding, urban soundscape and is filmesque in the extreme. A vocal version is currently being worked and will be on the site soon.
